About Zahra M's work:
Photo Theme:
Nighttime urban landscape and celestial alignment theme
Photo Story:
I’ve always loved the moon. I like to think we’re connected somehow. She’s been there for me up in the sky as a constant companion through some of my worst life experiences and moments. I take comfort in knowing that I can always look up and see her when I need to. I took this photo when my boyfriend and I were really broke but still wanted to go out on a date, so we went and walked around the grounds at The Waterfront Mall in Karen till dark. When I looked up, the moon was this beautiful shade of orange/amber and I was left captivated. I had to take a photo so I could always remember it. The bird passing right when I took the photo was honestly fate, in my opinion. All in all, it was a beautiful sight and a beautiful night.
How long has Zahra M loved photography:
Since I knew how to operate a phone, so a majority of my life
How they discovered their passion for photography:
Growing up, my family home was filled with gorgeous developed photos of memories from my family’s life, and mine. When we’d go through the photos during the holidays when I was a kid, I was so fascinated by them. They made me fall in love with photography. Whenever I’d see a family member with a professional camera I’d beg them to teach me how to use it or just let me play around with it. I started taking more intentional photos and videos after that. That’s how my love for photography began.
